Determinants of school perseverance<\/h3>\n

Different factors or situations can influence, either positively or negatively, school perseverance among young people. An accumulation of risk factors[1]<\/a><\/sup> increases the likelihood that a young person will drop out.<\/p>\n

These determinants fall into four broad categories: family factors, personal factors, school factors, and social or community factors (related to one\u2019s living environment or the community).<\/p>\n

Why take action on determinants?<\/h3>\n

To better meet the needs of young people<\/strong><\/p>\n

The influence of determinants on school perseverance has been widely documented. Analyzing the situation in light of these factors therefore makes it easier to match needs with priorities for action.<\/p>\n

To increase the effect of actions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Given the importance of these factors, many resources now classify information aimed at supporting school perseverance according to the determinants it acts on.<\/p>\n

This makes it possible to access a wide range of documentation that can be used to guide effective actions and target partners for involvement.<\/p>\n

Selecting determinants<\/h3>\n

The determinants featured in this section were deemed to have the greatest effect on school perseverance.<\/p>\n

Many other factors influence students during their development, but researchers and experts have reached a consensus on the importance of these ones.<\/p>\n

These factors were selected by R\u00e9unir R\u00e9ussir for their kit entitled \u201cTaking Effective Action on the Determinants of School Perseverance and Educational Success<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n
